Dr. Salem Hassan Abu Fanas, BDS, MSc, PhD, FADI, earned his BDS from Garyounis University in Benghazi, Libya, and completed his MSc and PhD at Manchester University in the UK. After his doctorate, he joined Arab Medical University in Benghazi as academic staff and later became Head of the Department of Periodontics. Currently a Visiting Professor at Misrata Dental College, he joined Ajman University in 1999, playing a key role in the DDS program accreditation and later serving as Clinical Supervisor and Head of the Surgical Sciences Department. He successfully led the establishment of the College of Dentistry in Fujairah, the dental internship training program across both campuses, and the postgraduate program in Ajman. Currently, he heads the accreditation team for all academic programs in the College of Dentistry and oversees joint affairs with international institutions, including the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. In 2007, he was awarded Fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International (FADI), USA, for his outstanding contributions to dentistry. Dr. Abu Fanas currently serves as Professor and Dean of the College of Dentistry at Ajman University.
