Okba Mahmoud

Dr. Okba Mahmoud is an Associate Professor in Endodontology and Consultant Endodontist at the College of Dentistry, Ajman University, Ajman, UAE, since 2016. Dr. Okba graduated from Baghdad University with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2003. He then joined Newcastle University, UK, in 2005, where he undertook a PhD program in Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry for four years. Dr. Okba earned Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, UK (MFDS RCPS). He also completed additional clinical training in Restorative Dentistry and Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery as a Senior House Officer (SHO) in the UK. In 2011, Dr. Okba joined the University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where he served as a Senior Lecturer and Clinical Fellow in Endodontology until 2015. A regular speaker at national and international conferences, Dr. Okba has published numerous scientific abstracts and articles in various international journals in the field of Dentistry. With over 15 years of academic and clinical experience, he is a member of the American Association of Endodontists, the British Endodontic Society, the Malaysian Endodontic Society, and the International Association for Dental Research.

  • Patent: Calcium Silicate-Based Cement (CSC) as Root Canal Medicament. Patent Number: PI2014703468 (2019). To evaluate the possibility of using CSC (primarily known as MTA) as a root canal medicament by retarding or impeding the setting reaction of the cement after mixing with 2% Chlorhexidine gel. This patent is registered in Malaysia and supported by University of Malaya.

Poster Title: Comparison the amount of apical debris extrusion associated with different retreatment systems during retreatment process of a root canal.
