This course expands the knowledge of students in understanding all aspects of the delivery of general anesthesia in the operating room. The basic principles of general anesthesia are introduced and the pre- and post-operative evaluation of the surgical patient is stressed. General anesthesia is provided by residents during dental and medical-surgical cases in a clinical treatment setting appropriate for sufficient patient monitoring. The course will also describe the facilities for the delivery of general anesthesia and the delivery of care for children and adolescents under general anesthesia in a hospital set up.
