On the occasion of World First Aid Day on September 10 2022, Ajman University highlights the importance of spreading First Aid knowledge and awareness to all its community members. World First Aid Day is coordinated by the Global First Aid Reference Center, and is an annual opportunity to emphasize the importance of first aid around the world as an act of humanitarian empowerment and as a key component of a wider resilience approach.
First Aid is a fundamental skill that can provide effective and rapid interventions to help reduce injury and suffering, and improve the chances of survival of someone in need. These skills are developed by AU students who are enrolled in the First Aid course at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, who turn theory into action by practically learning how to assemble a First Aid box and its components from scratch.
AU is very proud of this activity especially since it includes a student who is visually impaired. This serves as an inspiration to others that anyone can learn first aid skills. These students decided to place their assembled First Aid boxes at the Student Hub, to be used by the trained Emergency Response Team (ERT). This is part of Ajman University’s drive towards fulfilling this year’s theme of lifelong First Aid learning as it helps in creating safer and healthier communities, as well as in satisfying the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 3, regarding "Good Health and Well-being".
