Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University, along with members of the University’s Cabinet, Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, Dean of Student Services, and Dr. Mohammed Helal, Director of Student Life, inaugurated the 2nd International Biennale under the theme "Musical Instruments and Their Players" at Ajman University. The event was organized under the supervision of Mona Jebali, Senior Officer, Arts and Student Activities at the Fine Arts Center, Office of Student Life, and was sponsored by Bahi Ajman Palace Hotel. It took place at the Sheikh Zayed Center on the university campus.
The opening was also attended by prominent figures in the visual arts scene in the UAE, including Mr. Khalil Abdul Wahid, Head of the Visual Arts Department at Dubai Culture, Dr. Muhammad Youssef, Head of the Emirates Fine Arts Society, and Dr. Khalifa Al-Shaimi, Head of the Arab Cultural Club in Sharjah. Mr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi.
The biennale featured 120 artists representing 40 different nationalities from around the world, showcasing over 500 artworks, including oil paintings, acrylics, sculpture, arabic calligraphy, and wood carving. The event also included live art performances such as mosaics, a sculpture show, and a watercolor painting show, highlighting the integration between live performance and visual arts.
Additionally, the biennale hosted interactive workshops led by the participating artists, most notably Dr. Mohrez Al-Loz, where students had the opportunity to engage directly with experts in various art fields and learn about modern techniques and innovative methods, which contributed to the development and refinement of their skills.
Students from the University's Fine Arts Center also participated with a series of outstanding artistic creations, reflecting the importance of sustaining the flow of artistic creativity across generations and enhancing communication between artists and students to ensure the transfer of art between generations.
The participating artists expressed their appreciation for the University’s efforts in organizing such international cultural events, which serve as a meeting point for arts and music and promote creative dialogue between different cultures.
This event highlights the Fine Arts Center and the Office of Student Life’s efforts to enrich students' university life by fostering artistic and creative skills. The center offers workshops, training courses, and cultural activities to expand students’ horizons and encourage active engagement, enhancing both academic and personal growth.
