Dr. Mohamad Khairi Ishak, Associate Professor at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) recently participated in Ajman University’s Inbound Faculty Exchange Program. Dr. Khairi was all praises for the opportunities he was offered at AU for deeper exploration of his research topic, enhancing his teaching skills, interacting with a bright cohort of AU students, and learning more about the UAE.
Dr. Khairi holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM), an MSc. in Embedded Systems from the University of Essex, and a Ph.D. from the University of Bristol, United Kingdom. His teaching experience at USM focuses on stimulating engineering interest and retention through innovative approaches and technology integration.
“As a participant in the Inbound faculty exchange program at Ajman University, I have had the chance to fully immerse myself in a new academic environment, interact with local faculty and students, and gain fresh perspectives on my area of expertise,” said Dr. Khairi. “This program has allowed me to fully embrace the local culture and customs of the UAE, giving me a unique opportunity to learn about different teaching environments and ways of life,” he added.
Dr. Khairi’s research interests encompass Embedded Systems, Real-Time Control Communications, FPGA, and the Internet of Things (IoT), with a focus on the practical validation of theoretical and practical methods in these areas.
Commenting on the enhanced research opportunities he benefited from at AU, Dr. Khairi added, “This program has provided me with the chance to collaborate and exchange ideas with colleagues from Ajman University in my research field, enabling me to acquire new insights, teaching methods, and enhance my professional skills through knowledge sharing.
The opportunity to network and meet with the professors, technical staff, and researchers in my field helped me establish valuable connections for potential future collaborations in research and teaching projects.”
