On the occasion of Emirati Women’s Day, the Women Empowerment Council at Ajman University participated in an event organized by Ajman Chamber, under the slogan “We Collaborate for Tomorrow”. The event, which was organized in collaboration with Ajman Business Women Council and Umm Al Moumineen Women’s Association witnessed several Emirati women leaders from various fields enthusiastically participating and sharing their views on women’s empowerment. During the event, numerous success stories of Emirati women from different walks of life were shared, highlighting their vital role in achieving development and progress in the country.
The event was attended by Dr. Nahla Al Qasimi, Dean of Student Services and Chairperson of Women Empowerment Council at Ajman University. Dr. Nahla delivered an impactful speech, addressing the role of Emirati women in nation-building and their effective contributions in various fields. She emphasized the importance of empowering women and supporting them in achieving their aspirations and accomplishments.
Dr. Nahla Al Qasimi added, “The government of the United Arab Emirates is dedicated to enhancing the role of Emirati women and empowering them as essential partners in the journey of nation-building. Emirati women have proven their strength and determination through effective and constructive contributions in various sectors, leaving a positive impact on the economy, education, sciences, culture, and many other fields. Their success stories serve as inspirational models of excellence and distinction.” “We are here today to express our deep gratitude to every Emirati woman, each of whom has enriched our lives with her efforts and contributions. Let us always be admirers of the challenges they overcome and the successes they achieve", she added.
The selection of the slogan " We Collaborate for Tomorrow " this year comes in response to the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, "Mother of the UAE," who has been an ardent advocate of women’s empowerment in the UAE and across the globe. Additionally, this slogan's endorsement aligns with the ongoing preparations for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28), which the country is set to host in November. This underscores the crucial role of Emirati women in addressing the challenges of climate change and their contribution in achieving sustainable development.
The participation of AU Women Empowerment Council in this event reflects Ajman University's commitment to supporting and empowering women, as well as its active engagement in important initiatives and events that enhance their role in the society.
