Ajman University (AU) has teamed up with the Dubai-based global healthcare organization, Leader Healthcare Group, to celebrate the Healthcare Simulation Week. The Group’s Medical Education and Simulation Unit, collaborated with AU’s College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences to facilitate this event, which aimed at providing enhanced training capabilities to more than 50 students and expanding the resources available to develop their skills. Additionally, this collaboration increased the availability of immersive-high quality, simulation-based education, taking it to the next, more advanced level.
The event allowed students to gain an insight into high quality Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) via hands-on practice using Leader's unique and exclusive interactive CPR Kiosk. This was a thrilling learning experience for students working together across professional healthcare programs. Winners of the most effective CPR received giveaways from the group.
Moreover, students had the chance to try the unique virtual reality (VR) anatomy program. The combination of didactics and 3D graphics animation methods created limitless scenarios possible in different simulation environments with virtual patients that enabled students to touch, examine, check and communicate with the patient just as they would in real life. This helped the students to develop critical reasoning skills, user experience and clinical realism that could be used in the future in real patient care scenarios.
Nour AL Eman, student at the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences said: “This is my first experience performing CPR during a medical emergency. It has helped boost my confidence to deal with emergency healthcare situations. The virtual reality anatomy program helped me gain lots of knowledge about the real work environment and its requirements”.
As a strategic partner of Ajman University, Leader Healthcare Group also recently participated in full preparation of the medical simulation unit at the College of Medicine, among other educational projects. The collaboration offers medical learners the opportunity to make use of the complete training suite and the necessary tools, aiding them in becoming clinically competent medical professionals in the future.
