The Department of Psychology Hosts a Symposium on Positive Adult Education

The Department of Psychology at the College of Humanities and Sciences at Ajman University had the privilege of hosting Professor Dr. Jean HEUTTE, an esteemed international expert. Dr. HEUTTE, formerly a professor and dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Lille, France, and a distinguished member of the Scientific Committee of the International Society for Positive Psychology, delivered a symposium titled "Psychology and Education." The symposium focused on a research project spanning from 2011 to 2023, exploring the applications of psychology in the field of positive education. Dr. HEUTTE presented a comprehensive summary of several cross-sectional and longitudinal studies conducted during this period.

The symposium commenced with an opening address by Dr. Rasha Abdel Rahman, Head of the Psychology Department, and was attended by professors from both the Department of Psychology and Education at the college, as well as a group of engaged students. Professor Dr. Mara’ Ahmed, a distinguished member of the Department of Psychology and an advisory committee member of the International Society for Positive Psychology, moderated the event.

One of the focal points of the symposium was the presentation of an innovative research project titled "Advanced Scientific Research in the Field of Positive Adult Education: The Autotelic-Flow Experience, at the Heart of Persistence in Lifelong Learning”. This multi-study project included both cross-sectional and longitudinal analyses, examining the predictive power of psychological variables on academic performance. The presentation, characterized by its interactive nature, actively engaged attendees, including psychology students and their instructors, encouraging a dynamic exchange of ideas.
