On October 28, 2024, the Sharjah Social Services Department hosted an awareness lecture titled "Coping with Psychological Stress in the Workplace," delivered by Dr. Ahmad Mohammed Ali Al-Zoubi, a Professor of Psychology at Ajman University, at the auditorium of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship and Border Security. The lecture focused on defining the psychological stress experienced by employees in psychological and social institutions, its main sources, and the pressing factors in the workplace. During the lecture, Dr. Al-Zoubi discussed the types of psychological stress and the negative consequences associated with it, including physiological effects such as physical strain, cognitive effects like impaired concentration, and emotional impacts such as tension and anxiety, in addition to social and behavioral effects. He also presented a set of effective strategies for coping with stress, which included muscle and mental relaxation techniques, the importance of social support among colleagues, and advanced time management methods like the Pomodoro Technique to enhance productivity and reduce professional stress. Dr. Al-Zoubi concluded his lecture with recommendations on the importance of consistently applying relaxation techniques and utilizing strategies for balancing professional and personal life, to achieve a healthy and comfortable work environment and to enhance the mental well-being of employees.
