Workshop on Academic Advising by the Psychology Department

The Counseling Committee in the Psychology Department organized a workshop titled "Academic Advising in the Psychology Department," featuring Dr. Ahmed Al Zoubi as the presenter. The workshop took place on the 10th of November, 2023, and was conducted via Zoom on November 10, 2023, included the participation of faculty from the department who are also student advisors.
The workshop centred on crucial aspects of academic advising, aiming to equip faculty advisors with the necessary skills and knowledge. Dr. Ahmed Al Zoubi addressed key topics such as advising and guiding warned students, appropriate registration procedures, dealing with system warnings, calculating and addressing the expected cumulative GPA on the system, and the process of registering retake courses for warned students
The primary goal of the workshop was to familiarize academic advisors with handling warned students academically. Special emphasis was placed on understanding the less evident aspects of the system related to registering warned students. Practical activities were incorporated to enhance the learning experience.
The main objective was to ensure that academic advisors gained a comprehensive understanding of the system's nuances concerning the academic support of warned students. By the end of the workshop, advisors were expected to be well-informed in the processes of calculating expected GPAs, registering warned students, and efficiently clearing warnings in the system.
