Psychology Students Visit to Nursing Home in Sharjah
On the 7th of October, 2023, a trip to the nursing home in Sharjah was organized by the Department of Psychology. The trip was organized by Dr. Rasha Abdelrahman, the Head of the Psychology Department at AU, as well as Professor Marei and Dr. Ayman from the department. 45 students along with the faculty were greeted by the nursing home employees who informed them of the services and care offered by the nursing home, as well as the elderly’s rights and responsibilities.
The students met with the supervisors who care for the elderly, who explained how they deal with the elderly despite their situations. The students also exchanged conversations with the elderly about their satisfaction with the home and the services provided to them, and some of their stories from the old days.The Psychology students presented special activities, competitions, and gifts to express their encouragement, love and sympathy towards the elderly. The nursing home’s representatives thanked the students for their visits.This visit was one of the annual series of visits made by Psychology students to the nursing home in Sharjah.
