Course Description
This Master's level course aims to introduce learners to the statistical methods commonly used in quantitative sociological research. Topics include the basics of variance, sampling and hypotheses testing, the fundamentals of bivariate analyses, multivariate regression, and correlation. The course includes a lab section to provide hands-on training in statistical software used by social science researchers. Students will learn to formulate research questions and hypotheses, choose the appropriate statistical analyses, conduct these analyses, conduct their results using SPSS, STATA, and NVIVO, interpret their findings, and communicate their results clearly and effectively to both scholarly and social work practice audiences.
