Overview:

The Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching program is offered by the Department of Education. The program aims to qualify bachelor's degree graduates who wish to join the teaching profession. It also contributes to improving the qualifications of teachers who are working in the field of education and developing them educationally. The general objectives and outcomes of the program are derived from the basic educational knowledge and skills that the teacher must have in light of the most recent relevant demands and the international standards.

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of the program, the graduate will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate concrete theoretical knowledge in different educational aspects which enables the student to do their work successfully.

  • Admission Requirements:

    Applicants to the program of Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching in the AU College of Humanities and Sciences should meet the following conditions:

    1. A score of no less than 950 in the English Language EmSAT or its equivalents from national or international tests approved by the CAA, such as TOEFL ITP (450) or Academic IELTS (4.5).

    2. Bachelor's degree or its equivalent, recognized by the Ministry of Education in the UAE. The degree must be related to the specializations offered by the College with an AGPA of no less than 3 out of 4 or its equivalent.

    3. Applicants with a recognized bachelor's degree with a 2.5 CPGA to less than 3 out of 4 or its equivalent will be admitted on the condition that they may register up to 9 credit hours during the conditional admission period and must achieve a minimum GPA of 3 out of 4.

    4. Applicants with a recognized bachelor's degree with a CGPA of 2.0 to less than 2.5 out of 4 or its equivalent will be admitted on the condition that they may register up to 9 remedial credit hours and must achieve a minimum GPA of 3 out of 4.

    Graduation Requirements:
    • Graduate students are required to complete a total of 24 credit hours and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0.
    • Graduate students should successfully pass 7 courses, including the course of practical training and an optional course. The practical training course weighs 6 credit hours, while all other 6 courses weigh 3 credit hours each.
    Career Opportunities:
    • Teaching in Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 (secondary schools).
    • Working in educational institutions, training centers, and research centers.

In accordance with the university’s vision and philosophy as well as the mission of the College of Humanities and Sciences, the Department aims to prepare and train teachers for the intermediate stage (6-8) and the secondary stage (9-12).

The Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Teaching gets its goals from the program’s mission, which reflects the educational philosophy that the University adopts. The program’s goals are as follows:

  1. To provide the learner with deep applied and theoretical knowledge of various educational fields.
  2. To enable the learner to have new visions in various fields of the educational process.
  3. To make use of scientific research tools in solving problems encountered in the learning and teaching process.
