Course Description

This course provides an introduction to the concepts of business intelligence (BI) focusing on digital sociology, exploring how data analytics can help unravel societal complexities and enhance organizational success. The course explores how social and business problems can be effectively addressed by using operational data to create data warehouses, followed by the use of data mining tools and analytics to gain new insights into organizational operations.

Using digital sociology applications, students learn effective modeling techniques (dimensional modeling), foundations and technologies for the Decision-Making process, the ETL process, Business Performance Management, the unveiling of hidden societal patterns via data mining, and analytical modeling (descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive). Students will learn to exploit the demonstrated sociology topics to extract business intelligence and convey them to society's dynamics and opportunities for positive transformation.
