The finals of the 10th Edition of the Undergraduate Research Competition (URC) took place on Thursday, May 18th, 2023 at Abu Dhabi University under the Patronage of H.E. Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, the UAE Minister of Education. The URC aims to encourage universities in the GCC and MENA region to promote scientific research among undergraduate students and make it an integral part of university education. It also aims to instill life-long learning, enhance career opportunities for young people, and foster entrepreneurial mindsets and attitudes in education, research, and innovation. The competition targets all disciplines and has grown to become the largest undergraduate research event in the GCC and MENA region. The 2023 edition of the competition saw the submission of over 400 research projects by teams that included more than 1,100 undergraduate researchers from 14 countries across the GCC and MENA region. On the final day, 59 teams were awarded prizes in 19 categories. The Ajman University CBA team comprising Malak Elbagalaty, Rahaf Amjad and Ayshagul Mustafa won the 2nd prize in the Management category for their project entitled “Analyzing The Impact Of Diversity Management On Employee Performance In The UAE Workplace”. The project was supervised by Dr Maher Itani and the team was mentored in the competition by Dr Rekha Pillai. Malak expressed her delight at the team’s strong showing in the competition. She said “We are incredibly proud to have represented our university in such a prestigious event. We would like to extend a special thank you to Dr Maher for gracing us with his presence during the competition. His genuine support and motivation throughout the process was inspiring. We are also very grateful to Dr Rekha for her continuous mentorship throughout our research submission journey”.
