Dr. Maria Opulencia, CBA Department of Management Faculty member was an invited speaker on the topic “Asian Regionalism” in a Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) Lecture Session on March 12, 2021.” COIL connects courses, linking the classrooms of two or more higher education institutions, each located in a different country or cultural setting. The COIL model does not merely promote students from different countries sharing an online classroom. Rather, COIL creates equitable team-taught learning environments where faculty from two cultures work together, emphasizing experiential and collaborative student learning (http://www.coilconsult.com/).
On the COIL initiative, Dr. Opulencia was with other speakers namely Professor Jose Luis Jimenez, Coordinador de Proyectos COIL, as well as Secretariado de Internacionalización, Andrés Bello Catholic University, Caracas, Venezuela who discussed “The Global Media Culture”.
Also speaking at the session was Dr. Siti Sumiati, Faculty of Economics, Uninsulla University, Indonesia, who tackled “Global Economic Perspectives During Covid-19”. The Contemporary World International Lecture was organized by San Pedro College, Davao City, Philippines and attended by 298 students of the host institution.
