The College of Business Administration hosted a guest speaker on “How to Select a Good Topic for Research? Bridging the Gap between Theory and Practice” for its DBA students on Tuesday the 13th of October 2020. The talk was given by Dr. Wessam Abouarghoub, a Senior Lecturer in Logistics and Operations Management at Cardiff Business School, UK.
Dr Abouargoub was heartily welcomed by CBA Acting Dean Prof Akinola Fadahunsi and DBA Coordinator Prof Tamer Elshandidy.
The speaker gave an engaging account of the challenges that faced him as he transitioned from practitioner to academic to researcher especially during the period of his PhD study. He interwove stories from his industry experience to highlight potential gaps in the theory and practice of Maritime and Supply Chain Management and discussed what made these potentially good research topics. On behalf of the DBA candidates, program coordinator Prof Tamer thanked Dr Abouargoub for his insightful and enjoyable talk.
