Finance and Accounting Students visit NASDAQ Dubai

Under the initiative of the Finance and Accounting (FACT) Club of Ajman University, a group of students from the finance and accounting programs at the College of Business Administration recently visited NASDAQ Dubai. The aim of the visit was to expose the students to the practical mechanism and operations of the stock market. Accompanied by Dr. Rajesh Mohnot, Head of the Finance Department, Associate Professor Geoffrey Areneke, and Assistant Instructor Kiran Zafar, the students reportedly had a memorable experience.

During the visit, the students were given a presentation by the NASDAQ Dubai authority covering several aspects such as emerging trends of listed companies at this stock exchange, trading mechanisms, investment attributes, and the importance of diversification. They also learned about technical and fundamental analysis.

The presentation was followed by a Q&A session in which students had the opportunity to ask questions and clarify their doubts. The DFM staff were happy to engage with the students and answer their questions, ensuring that the students had a clear understanding of the concepts presented.

Dr. Rajesh expressed his appreciation for the initiative by the FACT Club, saying, "The visit was a great opportunity for our students to learn about the working of the stock market and to gain valuable insights into investment opportunities. They were very excited and engaged throughout the session. They asked many insightful questions, and it was clear that they had a strong interest in the topic.” Dr Geofry remarked, “We are confident that the knowledge they gained from this visit will be of great benefit to them in their future careers."

Aliya Mohamad, a 4th-year finance student at Ajman University and Vice President of the FACT Club, expressed her appreciation for the initiative, saying, "It was a great learning experience for all of us. We got to see first-hand how the stock market works and how investments are made. The presentation was informative, and the Q&A session was particularly helpful in clarifying our doubts. I think we all came away with a much better understanding of the subject. We are all looking forward to many such visits and opportunities to learn more about the industry."

Overall, the educational visit to DFM was a great success, and everyone enjoyed the experience. The students gained valuable insights into the stock market and investment opportunities, and the DFM staff were happy to share their knowledge and expertise. The visit was a great example of how educational institutions and industry can work together to provide valuable learning experiences for students.
