Finance and Accounting (FACT) Club organized an event bidding farewell to Fulbright Scholar Prof Rahul Verma who had just spent a semester as Visiting Professor at the Department of Finance, College of Business Administration, Ajman University. Prof Verma is the first Fulbright scholar in the history of Ajman University. The evening of fun, reminiscing, and poignancy was ably compered by Ms. Aliya Mohamad, Vice president of FACT Club who served as master of ceremony. The event was well-attended by CBA faculty members, students, and recent graduates.
Prof Akinola Fadahunsi, Dean of CBA kicked off the event with an opening speech in which he acknowledged Prof Rahul’s contribution to the college and commended his teaching and research activities. Dr. Rajesh Mohnot, Head of Finance Department then shared some memorable experiences and appreciated Prof Rahul’s efforts and compassion in delivering impactful teaching and learning experiences to finance students. Following the speeches, Prof Rahul was presented with tokens of appreciation by the college and FACT members in recognition of his valuable contributions and the impact he made during his tenure at the university.
Several students in attendance shared fond memories of their times with Prof Rahul, with the celebrant on occasion visibly emotional as the students recounted tales of the impact he had made on their education despite his short stay at Ajman University. One of the recent finance graduates, Anik Islam said, "As a student, I have always appreciated that you put us first and never hesitated to go above and beyond to help us succeed." Another final year finance student, Nourhan Barafi said, "The majority have that one extraordinary instructor they will constantly recall, for us that instructor is you."
Prof Rahul was overwhelmed by the students’ reflections and said in his emotional speech that he had found AU students to be respectful, studious, and smart. Thanking the Dean, the HOD, and other colleagues, he wished students all the best in their future endeavors.
