CBA’s Professor of Practice and Director of Ajman University Center for Excellence in Islamic Finance (AU-CEIF) Dr Adnan Aziz is scheduled to represent Ajman University at the upcoming Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change – COP27 – taking place from November 6th – 18th 2022 in the Egyptian coastal city of Sharm Al Shaikh.
Dr Adnan will present AU-CEIF’s ongoing work as an Islamic Finance consultant to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) to help build the organization’s legitimacy in the Islamic Finance world around nature and climate. The WWF-AUCEIF session is scheduled to hold on November 16th - The event is being hosted by the coveted Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) at their Pavilion. Apart from Dr Adnan, the session will also feature other panelists/speakers including Daouda Ben Oumar Ndiaye, Lead Climate Adaptation Specialist, IsDB, Laila Abdullatif, Director General, WWF-UAE, and others. Intended outcomes from the event include Inspiring interest in stakeholders to partner on BNS and Islamic Finance and Outlining a long-term vision for a 'to be launched' market leading ‘Islamic Fund for Climate and Development’ – IFCD.
AU-CEIF and WWF will additionally hold two high profiled meetings during COP27 as part of the build-up to COP28 scheduled to hold in UAE in 2023.
