In celebration of International Museum Day, organized by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) in Paris, ICOM-UAE in collaboration with Ajman University, coordinated with the College of Architecture, Art, and Design to host a forum under this year’s theme, "Museums for Education and Research."
The event featured opening speeches by Dr. Riad Saraiji, Dean of the College of Architecture, Art, and Design, and Mr. Ahmed Al Tenaiji, General Director of Ras Al Khaimah Antiquities and Museums, as well as ICOM-UAE board member and representative chairman. The forum included many museum curators from Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and Ajman.
Speakers highlighted the role of museums in education and research. Mr. Ludo Verheyen, CEO of MTE Studios, discussed his projects in developing museums in the Emirates, particularly the Ajman Museum.
Dr. Ayman Kassem, Assistant Professor at the College of Architecture, Art, and Design, presented "Learning from Exhibition Spaces: Museums and Education from the Lens of Design.
" Dr. Naglaa Mahmoud followed with her topic, "Lighting Necessity for an Outstanding Museum Display - Education and Research."
The forum also featured presentations from Ajman University graduate students Ms. Shams Hassan Al-Mulla and Ms. Jana Ahmed, showcasing their museum design projects. Attendees praised their work and the knowledge they demonstrated from their museum design courses.
The event concluded with discussions among attendees, facilitating the exchange of experiences and highlighting the importance of the college’s programs in training future museum designers.
