In view of the current advancement of computational technologies, parametric modeling software such as grasshopper has been strongly emerging to enable the user to record the history of the modeling procedures explicitly which gives the designer some advantages in automating multiple aspects of the 3d model and automatically update any further adjustments. On the other hand, Manual modeling still has its advantages for those who prefer straightforward and flexible modeling processes without pre-programmed rules or constraints. Therefore, this training will be a practical introduction for participants to understand the basic difference between manual and parametric modeling which will be exemplified by applying the same modeling procedures both manually and parametrically ending with the same result.
The training is an introduction to Rhino and Grasshopper covering the basics of NURBS modeling operations, mesh, vector, list, and data tree. The training’s narrative will be structured as a parallel analogy between manual and parametric modeling, which will enable learners to understand in depth the difference between the two. In addition, to demonstrate a basic intro to ladybug which is an environmental analysis plugin with a grasshopper that allows the generation of multiple diagrams related to radiation, shade & shadow. and other aspects of environmental analysis.
