Sustainable Schools Competition by SIXINCH Middle East

Educational projects such as schools are complex projects that focus on the spatial practices of young people, which can fulfil their educational and development aspects.

Complex projects in schools usually include main categories of spaces such as formal spaces ex.  Classrooms and the informal spaces ex. the indoor playing area and outdoor Amphitheatre noting that these spaces are integrated together with rhythm, hierarchy and unity. This competition was successful collaboration between SIXINCH ME and CAAD – Architecture Department in Ajman University, as it had opened the platform for our students to different creative concepts in design that focused on both smart technologies and sustainable initiatives. The competition main goal was to design the informal outdoor and indoor spaces for sustainable schools in UAE.  The design includes the interior spaces and furniture for both areas.

The duration of the design process was four months, supervised by Dr. Muna Salameh,  Mrs. Nashwa Shiqwarah , Mrs. Ayat Elkhazindar, Mr. Jamal Hamsho as part of teaching (Arch. Design III) course along beside Mr. Iyad Jumaa feedbacks and sponsored by of SIXINCH ME. The collaboration was through the engagement of SIXINCH ME in different juries’s critics which supported the students creative ideas and process. The students had submitted a plenty of unique creative ideas which showed a great understanding of the objectives and end results expected. The award ceremony and the final jury critic was held at SIXINCH Middle East showroom joined by their partners AMG design consultants, Broadway interiors ME and Studioveellc which are big International firms based in Dubai..

 The prizes were:

1st Prize will be Internship for a period of 6 weeks + Sixinch recognition trophy

2nd prize will be special piece of Sixinch Pouf + Sixinch recognition trophy

3rd prize will be Sixinch recognition trophy

The first winner project (specific pieces) will be built as prototype which will be displayed in a prestigious event. And shall receive royalty fee of 5% incase produced commercially.

All the participants has received Certificate of Participation.
