Hadil Al Bustami is an accomplished lecturer in the dynamic field of Interior Design at Ajman University, where she has made significant contributions to both academia and the profession. With a strong educational background and years of dedicated service, Hadil is a recognized expert in teaching essential principles and the foundational elements of design, while also cultivating a designer's mindset in her students. Hadil holds a bachelor’s degree in interior design from Ajman University, where she laid the foundation for her passion and expertise in the field. She later pursued her academic journey at The British University in Dubai (BUiD), earning a Master of Science (MSc) in Sustainable Design of the Built Environment. Her academic achievements reflect her commitment to excellence and her dedication to advancing sustainable design principles. She is presently a Research Scholar working towards a PhD in Creative Arts at Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. With an illustrious teaching career that spans over a decade, Hadil's impact on her students and the Interior Design department at Ajman University is undeniable. She began her journey at AU as a Teaching Assistant in 2005 and has since ascended to the prestigious position of lecturer. Her diverse course portfolio includes Introduction to Design, Freehand Drawing, Digital Sketching, basics of Procreate and Sustainable Design. Hadil's teaching methodology emphasizes technical skills, the cultivation of creative thinking, and a deep understanding of sustainability in design. Hadil is at the forefront of sustainable design research in the built environment, with a particular focus on Interior Design. Her groundbreaking work covers topics such as Sustainable Design, Indoor Air Quality, Sustainable Built Environments, and Biomimicry. Through her research, Hadil inspires the next generation of designers to prioritize sustainability in their projects and practices. Hadil's dedication extends beyond the classroom. She has played pivotal roles in organizing numerous workshops and events, showcasing her leadership and commitment to the Interior Design community. Some major efforts include spearheading the Sustainable Summer School in 2012 at The British University in Dubai, proving her international reputation. In 2014, she organized the Annual Interior Design Exhibition at Ajman University, demonstrating her design showcase skills. She supervised the 2017 AU Students Club Fair, providing mentorship and support for student initiatives, and coordinated the Westminster-AU Design Summer School, fostering global connections. In 2018, she played a key role in organizing the school's Outreach Programme Workshop at AU, strengthening ties with the local community. Additionally, she coordinated the highly successful Interior Design Week in 2020, demonstrating her academic leadership. She coordinates workshops and competitions in partnership with companies across different sectors. In March 2023, Hadil conducted a workshop titled "Design Thinking in Education" in collaboration with Nolte Kitchen UAE, addressing human factors, residential space needs, and Minimalist Kitchen Designs and their influencers. In 2023, she is actively involved in upcoming artistic and design competitions such as the DIFC Art Night event and the Earth Soul Festival in Dubai. Her participation includes showcasing an extensive and impressive array of 2D drawings and sculptures crafted from recycled materials.
