Dr. Hafiz received her Ph.D. and master’s degree from the School of Architecture and Design (A+D), Virginia Tech, USA. During her studies, she was honored with the Best Student Research Award from the School of Architecture and Design at Virginia Tech twice. In addition, she was awarded the Richard Kelly Grant for Lighting Research Excellence. Dr. Hafiz had the privilege of teaching various courses in both architecture and interior design at universities in the U.S., Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. From 2017 to 2022, she collaborated with her colleagues to establish a new architecture program at a university in Dubai, where she became the head of the architecture program. She is interested in research related to visual comfort, daylighting, user experience, architecture and design education, sustainable cities, and museum experiences.
