Dr. Hafiz holds both a Ph.D. and a Master’s degree from the School of Architecture and Design (A+D) at Virginia Tech, USA, where she was honored twice with the Best Student Research Award. She was also a recipient of the Richard Kelly Grant for Lighting Research Excellence. Throughout her career, Dr. Hafiz has taught a wide range of courses in architecture and interior design at universities in the U.S., Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates. From 2017 to 2022, she worked alongside colleagues to establish a new architecture program at a university in Dubai, where she served as the head of the program. Dr. Hafiz’s research interests include visual comfort, daylighting, user experience, architecture and design education, sustainable cities, and museum experiences.
