Dr. Afaq Hyder is a highly skilled professional with a Bachelor of Architecture (B. Arch) degree awarded in 1997, a Master’s degree (MSc. Building) in 2007, and a Doctoral degree (PhD. Architecture) in February 2011. With 22 years of experience in university teaching (Undergraduate & Postgraduate) at both national and international institutions, Dr. Afaq has established himself as a versatile academician. In addition, he brings 20 years of practical experience as a licensed architect, demonstrating his expertise as a designer, specifier, project manager, and architect-of-record. His architectural practice spans the design and construction of boutique hotels, recreational clubs, low and mid-rise residential buildings, as well as remodeling, renovation, and adaptation projects. Dr. Afaq’s research interests focus on contemporary issues in housing, urban design, and smart cities. He has published 22 papers in prestigious, peer-reviewed international journals. His research primarily addresses urban issues, housing design quality, sustainable housing, mobile technology in housing quality, housing satisfaction surveys, housing quality profiles, framework development for quality, and design defects.
