How to prepare for EmSAT exams
What is an EmSAT test?
Whether you are an Emirati or Non-Emirati seeking to be admitted to any of the Universities or learning institutions in the UAE, EmSAT is a must! The Emirates SAT (EmSAT) is the first step to your higher studies. It's a set of standardized computer-based tests based on UAE national standards. The Ministry of Education designs it, and it has been created to evaluate students’ skills and knowledge in their areas of interest for higher education in specific courses.
Challenges students face while preparing for EmSAT
There is no denying that students face a lot of issues during exam seasons. It's an extremely stressful period for many students, and with this stress there comes a large set of problems that students face during their exam preparation. - Decide which subjects you should take
If you are a student who is studying under the Ministry of Education (MOE) curriculum you are required to take the EmSAT to achieve English, EmSAT Arabic, EmSAT Math, and EmSAT Physics as mandatory tests to get the grade 12 equivalent certificate. English is the first subject test that you must take. After that, based on your area of interest, you can decide on which of the other subjects you would like to take. Apart from these subjects, MOE also provides EmSAT Achieve Biology, EmSAT Achieve Chemistry, and EmSAT Achieve Computer Science.
- Take plenty of time to prepare
Students make the mistake of starting to prepare for the test a couple of weeks before the exam. To achieve a better score, it's preferable to start preparing for the EmSAT exams at least 1-2 months in advance so that you will have sufficient time to study and revise key concepts according to the test specifications. In addition, taking notes or summarizing key points will help you with last-minute revision, as a subject's vast curriculum cannot be revised well in a short timeframe.
- Start solving previous question papers
One of the best ways to prepare for an exam is to take a look at question papers of previous exams. Students who solve past papers are likely to have a higher level of confidence before exams. Try to solve as many sample papers as you can to master your concepts as this is going to help you to boost your scores. They also help you when it comes to timing and making sure that you spend the right amount of time on each section that you have to finish.
Perks of EmSAT exam
Taking the EmSAT test enables students to enroll in any reputed college or university in the UAE. It evaluates students’ knowledge and skills in different fields. Some universities may ask for a minimum score for admission. Furthermore, the student’s EmSAT Test score is valid for 18 months after the exam. As a result, the possibility of retaking the test is higher, allowing students to target for higher grades. However, there should be a time gap of 60 days for retaking the exam.
