The "Meet and Greet" event organized by the Office of Student Housing featured the presence of Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, Dean of Student Services; Eng. Leena Taifour, Hostel Manager; Dr. Dalia Bedewy, Manager of the Student Counseling Unit; and Dr. Fetta Djessas, Manager of University Medical Services, along with hostel supervisors. This event provided a remarkable opportunity for new and current students to connect, ask questions, and engage in meaningful discussions about student life within our hostel community and the university. The event commenced with a warm welcome from Dr. Nahla Al Qassimi, who delivered an insightful overview of the student experience. She discussed a wide range of events, activities, and programs available, highlighting opportunities for empowerment through the Women Empowerment Council, the Leadership Program, AU Ambassadors, and Peer Leaders. Dr. Al Qassimi also emphasized the importance of community involvement, fitness programs, and intensive training and coaching opportunities available to students. Workshops and seminars designed to enhance students' knowledge were also highlighted. Dr. Fetta Djessas provided valuable information on accessing essential medical services crucial for student well-being, particularly emphasizing the significance of health awareness during October, which is recognized as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Dr. Dalia Bedewy discussed the various support services offered by the Counseling Unit and encouraged questions about psychological well-being. She highlighted the importance of these services, which include individual and group counseling. Dr. Bedewy emphasized that counseling sessions are designed to address specific issues, provide support in coping with crises, and help improve interpersonal relationships. Eng. Leena Taifour facilitated an engaging discussion that allowed students to share their experiences, tips, and creative ideas for building a vibrant community in the residence halls. She encouraged students to explore exciting opportunities to participate in social events and activities, including joining the Hostel Creative Team.
