New Skill Set for Employees: Project Management System Training

Project Management Office at Ajman University of Science & Technology in collaboration with Human Resource Department organized a series of training sessions for Head of Department and some employees. The main aim of these trainings was to acquaint the trainees to the new PMO (Project Management Online) System.

Ajman University strives to ensure that its employees keep abreast of the latest technological trends, keeping in line with this bid the training sessions imparted the vital knowledge of utilizing the PMO system for an effective and efficient delivery of projects undertaken by the various departments at the University.

In theory, the PMO system will reduce the complexity of managing a project whilst assisting in organizing the management of projects from beginning to end. Ensuring a smooth flow of work through the entire project lifecycle, documenting every stage and step onto a system accessible by the management and senior members of Ajman University.

The system engages the application of the Microsoft Office 365 Online & Microsoft Project 365 Online so that that the project managers and their team members access and update the documents. Since the system is based on the most contemporary technology of Cloud users have the ease of accessibility. Furthermore, it supports the other application of Microsoft Outlook, Sharepoint along with Word, Excel and others this expands the horizon of the system.

The training included the fundamentals of project management and dealt with the impact of the new system on the functional departments. It also represents the change management transitions that will ensure the conformity of projects to the common constraints of scope, time, cost & quality.

On his part, Mr. Mohammed Saeed Salman, Director, Project Management Office explained the importance of the system “The implementation of the system is an integration of knowledge into technology. Currently, worldwide and regionally the application of project management is not limited to multi-million Dollar projects only, it’s being applied to smaller social and personal projects which are much smaller on the scale yet they yield better results after utilizing the PMO system”

He also stated that “the human factor in this application is of paramount importance. Therefore the training sessions will ensure the projects always adhere to the fundamental principles of quality standardized at Ajman University. The keen interest in developing the human skills stems from the basic vision and philosophy that reiterated bridging the gap between the academia and practice” He further added “The system is aligned to PMI standards of project management”.

It’s worthy to note that Ajman University is an approved provider for Project Management courses through the international body of PMI (Project Management Institute).
